we're on winter vacation

so, let it snow, let it snow…

Looking back across the pond to the country we left a few days ago, where the season of icy, snow-covered and slippery roads has set in. We don't mind the slightest being in Central Florida right now.

snow in Florida?

So, yes, it does snow in Florida on very rare occasions. Even down where we live snow has been observed, but last time was decades ago according to locals.

Night-frost is more common here. I have observed temperatures down to about -10℃ early in the morning a few times over the last few years, but no snow.
Not all plants can handle such cold nights, but, apart from having to replace a few plants after a cold period, chilly nights have never caused any problems at our place.

Climate here in Central Florida is good for a Norwegian, especially in the winter. Our house is also well insulated – for being in Florida, so indoor temperatures are easy to keep at comfortable levels throughout all seasons.

preparing for christmas

Our neighbors have decorated plenty for the street. We like the look of it, but we have never been much into such decorations ourselves. Christmas is quiet, private, time to us, and we usually do not make any fuss about the time leading up to it.

Right now it's midnight and temperatures around 16℃ (61℉), and all is good.

Merry Christmas to all!
